RANKID Vision · beta
AI squash video analysis
Film a match on your phone — get shots and rallies, heatmaps, 15+ metrics per player and highlights. The video never leaves your device: the analysis runs in your browser.
How it works
Film and open
Video from your phone. The file stays with you.
Calibration — 1 minute
Click the court corners and lines on the frame. We'll overlay the markings to check.
Auto-analysis in your browser
The model finds players and shots and cuts the video into rallies. The interface doesn't freeze — it runs in the background.
Markup and report
10–15 minutes on the keyboard: shot type, where it landed, outcome. The report is instant, with trends between matches.
How to film
So everything gets counted
- ✓Camera behind the back wall or glass, centred on the court, as high as possible (balcony, top of the glass, 2 m+ tripod).
- ✓The whole floor with its lines and the entire front wall in frame, including the tin and the out line.
- ✓Phone on a tripod or pressed against the glass. No zoom, no panning, landscape.
- ✓1080p, 30 or 60 fps. Sound on — we find shots by the click of the ball.
- ✓One match — one file. No need to cut out the breaks between games.
- ✓Different-coloured kit helps keep the players apart on the track.

Metrics
What exactly we count
% tight to the wall
drives, volleys and returns that bounced no further than 0.5 m from the side wall. Pros ≈ 50%, juniors 25–45%.
% below the service line
shots that hit the front wall below 1.78 m — low and deep. Juniors ≈ 35%, pros ≈ 45%.
% deep
drives that reached the last metre at the back wall. Benchmark 30–40%.
Return of serve
quality (tight / deep) and how many rallies after it were won: low ≈ 40%, high ≈ 60%+.
Shot mix
share of drives, cross-courts, boasts, drops, lobs, volleys — plus winners and errors for each type.
Movement
distance and speed per rally, distance from the T, time to return to the T, share of time in front of the short line.
Rallies
length in shots and seconds, rallies won, serve → win, longest rally.
Heatmaps
floor — where each player stood; front wall — where the ball went; “shot × zone” table.
Level benchmarks come from open publications on squash analytics; they're not a guarantee of accuracy but a scale for comparing with yourself. Formulas — on the “How we count” page.
What makes RANKID Vision different
Video never goes to the cloud
Analysis runs in your browser. Children and club recordings are never uploaded anywhere.
Clear on how to film and how long to wait
Specific camera requirements and an honest estimate of the time before you start — not “upload and wait”.
Formulas are open
Every figure in the report matches a formula on the “How we count” page.
Link to rating and tournaments
The analysis is linked to your profile and the RANKID match — right next to “My level” and your history.
Coach and player
The student shares the analysis with the coach, the coach writes notes on specific seconds, the player gets a notification.
For clubs and coaches
Students' analyses in the coach's dashboard — no separate accounts or credits.
FAQ
Where does the video go?
Nowhere. The file opens in your browser; the pose model and shot detector run on your device. Only coordinates, shots, rallies and metrics go to the RANKID server — a few hundred kilobytes.
How long does it take?
Roughly the video length divided by the chosen speed (×1–×2): a 40-minute match — 20–40 minutes. You can minimise the tab, but not close it. Then 10–15 minutes of manual markup.
How accurate is it?
Honestly: it's a beta. Players are found by MediaPipe Pose, shots by sound. You see what the model found and can correct it by hand in minutes — shot type and rally outcome are always set by a person, so there are no “made-up” numbers in the report. We'll publish accuracy figures after the first 30 matches.
Which phone and browser?
Any modern one: Chrome, Edge, Safari 16.4+. Faster on a computer. On a phone, set 3 frames per second.
What about training?
The “training” type — one player, the same metrics for them: tightness, depth, movement, heatmaps.
How much does it cost?
Free for everyone signed in to RANKID while the beta lasts. We'll announce post-beta pricing in advance; your analyses will stay.
